Skylight Mountain Guides offers rock climbing and backcountry skiing in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.

Located in the Lake George Region, Skylight Mountain Guides has easy access to the rock climbing and skiing destinations of the Lake George, Indian Lake, and High Peaks Regions.
The Adirondack Mountains are in northern New York, bordered by Canada and Vermont. This is a huge region with a blend of mountains, wild forests, and lakes, as well as rural towns and mountain culture.
Despite being a huge area, access to the different regions is straightforward.
The Lake George Region is characterized by mild temps and generous sunshine. The rock-climbing cliffs in this region of the Adirondacks have the longest season, often stretching from mid-March until mid-November. Notable cliffs include multi-pitch Rogers Rock and face-climbing at Shelving Rock.
During the winter season, the Indian Lake Region is blanketed by a deep snowpack. The combination of high elevation trailheads, coastal storms and lake effect snow offer reliable conditions for glade, trail, and slide skiing. There are a few excellent rock cliffs, too, including Shanty Cliff, Sugarloaf and Crane Mountain.
The highest mountain ranges, and classic rock-climbing areas, are clustered in the High Peaks Region. Here you will find our greatest collection of ski trails, glades, bowls and peaks. Avalanche Pass, Wright Peak and Mt Marcy are our undisputed classic ski tours. During rock season this is an excellent region to escape the summer heat and the road side cragging at Chapel Pond, Cascade Pass, and Wilmington Notch are as good as it gets in the northeast. We have alpine rock climbs and summit crags which make for a scenic day in the High Peaks backcountry.
What is the skiing like?
There are steep ski trails that descend our highest summits and adventurous nordic trails which cross mountain passes. Our alpine terrain includes summit snowfields, open slide paths, and steep gullies. Our forests are full of hardwood glades, too.

A Great Day in the Mountains!
